When Daylight Breaks
- text by Kim Myun-joong
The sky turns bluish at dawn in the yard in front of an old royal palace in this painting by Kim Hyun-Chul. In his work, Kim likes to depict the mysterious time when daylight breaks by applying deep blue paint and letting it permeate the canvas surface. This tranquil blue hue has a clearing effect on my mind: all my complicated thoughts are suddenly simplified. I hope that you will have the same cleansing experience while viewing these paintings of a royal palace.
